Common Commercial Lighting Issues

The last thing a business needs is to see the lights start to flicker. Employees in the middle of a task may start to panic that all the work they've done will be lost or that they'll have to start a complicated job all over again. Flickering is one of the most common commercial lighting issues, and it's not likely one that will be solved by ignoring the problem.

The Technology Behind It

Lighting has come a long way, and it only continues to get better with each generation. Manufacturers listen to customer complaints and feedback so they can better understand what the market is experiencing after they use their products over the years. The more they learn, the more flexible their methods are and the cheaper the products become. As standards are redefined though, the reasons behind flickering lights may become more confusing for customers.

When It's Normal

LED and Fluorescent bulbs may simply flicker in your commercial building more often than other bulbs. It doesn't necessarily mean that the power is about to go out or that there's a serious problem behind it. However, it can be rather annoying for employees who are trying to concentrate. You may also have a loose bulb in one of the sockets. This fix only requires you to tighten up the bulb, so it stays put. Just turn off the light, and put on a thick glove to protect against any potential problems.

When It's Not Normal

When your wiring is loose, or your voltage is fluctuating, then it's time to call an electrician. These types of common commercial lighting issues can lead to electrical fires, or they could cause you to blow out the power of the whole building. Regardless of whether or not your issue is simple or serious, you should always address and find the root cause of your electrical problem right away.
